Volunteer Befrienders wanted for Adavu

Slavery and Exploitation still take place in towns, cities and rural communities in the West Midlands. Men, women and children can be trafficked for sexual exploitation, forced labour, domestic servitude, and other forms of slavery.

Adavu is a Birmingham based project, which offers long term support to adult survivors of modern slavery who are making the transition into life in a local community.

Children and Families Worker (Full Time x 1 post or Part-Time x 2 posts)

The Methodist Church - The Vale of Stour Circuit (28/5)

We are looking for one full-time or two part-time (18.5 hours per week) experienced Children and Families Worker to help our volunteers to:
* further develop the exciting opportunities presently available in our churches
* build on the many existing school links
* encourage growth in the existing church outreach initiatives, e.g. children with special needs, Chilly Kids.
In addition, the Children and Families Worker will support our ministers’ pastoral work with families on the ‘fringes’ of the church.

ADAVU Support Caseworker Vacancy

We are seeking to recruit a Support Caseworker:
• To support adult victims/ survivors of modern day slavery when facing transition, primarily due to transition from the National Referral Mechanism associated (NRM) initial aftercare, but on occasion, offering support to beneficiaries who have not accessed NRM support but who can be identified as victims or potential victims of modern slavery.
• The Support Caseworker will have responsibility for delivering quality casework services based at Adavu’s offices at the Jericho Foundation, Balsall Heath, Birmingham, but accepting referrals from across the city and the region.
• The post holder will primarily be assisting people on an appointment basis in public places (such as a café) but will also be required to accompany clients to other appointments, or to meet clients in their homes or elsewhere as necessary.
• An element of the work will involve facilitating a regular client drop-in session which will be a Birmingham venue to be confirmed.
This is to be achieved within the wider context of the work of the Adavu Project.
