Superintendents Letter - 27th May 2020
Below is this week's letter all about uniting in worship and staying in touch, both online and offline, from Rev Nick Jones and Rev Dr Neil Johnson who are two of the Superintendency Team for the Birmingham Methodist Circuit.
Dear sisters and brothers in the Birmingham Circuit,
During the lockdown, I've become aware of the many ways in which our Churches have remained united in worship, prayer and pastoral care through a whole myriad of means. Our Churches have been remarkably innovative with Zoom Worship and Prayer, Facebook and WhatsApp groups, and it has been wonderful to share together each Sunday morning at 10.30a.m. through District Worship Live.
I am also aware that not everyone can access this if they do not have the internet and the devices required. One of the most positive responses to this has been that many of our housebound members who are often not able to attend worship have received pastoral care and printed services to join in with at home. I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone in our Churches who have gone to great lengths to make sure that everyone is being looked after pastorally and spiritually throughout this period.
In some cases, people have been producing services every week for quite a while now, and I wanted to remind you of the worship resources that the Methodist Church website provide for use at home for each Sunday that can be seen HERE.
I hope that these are helpful to those of you who provide Worship sheets, and that they might also be helpful if you are considering providing Service Sheets for those at home who cannot access worship online.
The Methodist Church also offers a Free Dial-a-Prayer Service updated each Thursday afternoon where you can Listen to a Prayer on 0808 281 2514 or Listen to news on 0808 281 2478.
I hope that all of these resources are helpful to you as we continue to journey together in prayer and worship while being physically apart and in exile from our Church buildings.
Rev. Neil Johnson and Rev. Nick Jones
