Church Without Walls at Saltey Methodist Church
Church Without Walls is a Birmingham District initiative to encourage churches to engage with their local communities. Read on to find out what Saltley Methodist Church have been up to in their community.
A note from Samuel the Minister of Saltley Methodist Church
On Saturday 28th June; was another day for mission in our community. We were not alone as a church; other denominations joined us for evangelism. We aim to be a” missional church”. As David J Bosch wrote , “ The church will be called a missional congregation when it takes up the role of evangelism which is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus’ resurrection, forgiveness of sins, belief in God, and hope of eternal life with God“.
We went out as four denominations – working together in our community, to build a “Church Without Walls “. Those are: Saltlely Methodist Church (the host), Grenfell Baptist Church, Saltley Baptist Church and Elim Pentecostal church.
We prayed for people in the street, Fox and Goose Centre, Bus stops, Petrol station, and Shops. We gave out a lot of leaflets and other resources for mission.
It was wonderful to work together with ministers and church members from other denominations! Around 12:33 pm , we had a feed-back meeting and refreshment at Tesco Supermarket’s café. We pledged to continue working together as we reach out people for the Gospel of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20)
We would like to express our sincere thanks to Birmingham District for the grant of £100 given to us for mission in our community. We also thank Revd Trey Hall and Mrs Helen Lynskey for their support and prayers. As John Wesley once said:
“Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can.”
He said again : “ All need to be saved, All may be saved.... All may be saved to the uttermost”
God bless you all,
