Nether Whitacre Methodist Church celebrates their Bi-Centenary

Whitacre Methodist Church was founded and opened in 1820, this year they celebrate 200 years as a place of worship and will be celebrating in style. Read more below.

200 Years Later...

In the year 1820, on Birmingham Road, Nether Whitacre Methodist Church was founded. It later moved in 1914 to Station road. This two hundred year journey is being celebrating during 2020 in a number of different ways which are highlighted below.

All are welcome to celebrate this momentus milestone with them.

Book

A new book is now available, priced £7.99 (plus £2.50 postage), which tells the story of the chapel, along with photographs. Find out more on the Nether Whitacre website here, along with ordering.

Preaching

During the coming months, Ministers who were stationed at Nether Whitacre will be returning to preach, including:

Events

In addition to the services mentioned above, there will be a number of other key events during the year.

  • On Sunday February 23rd, the Reverend Ian Howarth will be with the congregation as part of their service.
  • On Sunday August 23rd, the annual ramble at Nether Whitacre will be taking place.
  • On Saturday July 4th there is an afternoon tea followed by an evening concert in which the choir hope to present a selection of songs from the past 20 decades.You will be surprised by how many you recognise,remembering that recordings did not start until after 1877 and we began in 1820!
